DRM Free iTunes!

It finally happened!

Apple Inc. finally announced they are converting songs purchased from the iTunes store to digital rights management (DRM) free! Why would anyone get excited about that?

Well, I have multiple ways of playing music throughout my house. I can play music through any one of my Tivo (DVR) devices or Apple TV. I have a Roku unit that also streams music from my computer. Before this announcement the only device that could play the music purchased from iTunes was my Apple TV. The other devices could only play music I loaded into my computer from CD's, or that I purchased from Amazon.com. Now, all devices can play any song in my collection!

There may be a small fee to upgrade the existing songs I purchased to make them DRM free, but I consider that a small price to pay. Dreams do come true!
