GPS Navigation System

After more than three years of waiting to get a GPS Navigation system I finally got one for Christmas 2007. Wait a minute you say, it's not Christmas yet. Well, I picked one up over the weekend, installed it and I will give the empty box to my wife to wrap up and put under the tree! Merry Christmas!

I decided to go with the Magellan Maestro 4250 North American for several reasons:
1. It is Blue Tooth compatible so it can be used with my cell phone to make and receive phone calls hands free.
2. It has the option of providing real-time traffic warnings.
3. It accepts voice commands to locate the nearest restaurants, ATM machines, Gas stations and other points of interest.
4. A 4.3 color touch screen
5. AAA Roadside Assistance details.
6. Route simulation before you began your journey and automatic recalculating of route when you choose to disregard a turn or route suggested.
7. Day and night views of the screen for better visibility.
8. And the list goes on.

Setup was easy (cigarette lighter and AC adapters are included for power as well as various mounting options). The unit itself is very thin so it can be moved to other vehicles if necessary and even carried in a jacket pocket for use while walking.

All in all it is a great unit and I bought it discounted $100 dollars off of the normal retail price which allowed me to purchase an additional three year warranty for what the unit would normally cost by itself. This way I am always guaranteed a working unit.

I am very pleased with my choice and I just might have helped my buddy Andrew decide which unit to buy based on the demo I gave him of mine.

I am looking forward to many miles of travels with this new device!
