iPhone in action

I have been using the iPhone for about two weeks and have mixed emotions about it. I found that it was necessary to reset it after it began returning to the main menu no matter what application I went to. If I opened the iPod application it would play a song for three seconds and then stop playing it and return to the main menu. The same thing happened with looking at my contact list, map program, etc. Resetting it was simple. To perform a soft reset, press and hold the iPhone’s Sleep/Wake button and the Home button for several seconds, or until you see the apple logo on the screen. Things started working normally again.

I fixed it just in time because my daughter called me on the way home one evening and wanted to know where a Taco Bell was located on her trip home from New Brunswick to Plainfield. I launched the map application on my iPhone, typed in Taco Bell and my zip code and it presented several Taco Bells in the area represented by push pins. I click on a push pin and up came a directory listing of the Taco Bell's address and phone number and an option to get directions to it. I told her where it was at and she remembered how to get there without me giving her directions. Is that worth pay $599 along with a monthly data and phone plan? Not that example by itself but the moment was priceless and brought a smile to my face.
