So, how did I access the Internet to post this message when there is no broadband, dial-up or wireless broadband available at my current location? I used the Verizon Wireless V620 card in my laptop and their VZAccess manager. (Check out their site for more information www.verizonwireless.com)
We ordered cable and high speed cable modem service for our daughter's residence for school but it will take several days before they turn on the service (of course I will supply and setup the cable modem and wireless access once the line is activated). Until then, we have been surfing the Internet, checking e-mail, uploading pictures and conducting our banking transactions all via my laptop and the V620 card (the other laptops in the house have been rendered useless until the cable service is turned on).
Basically, the card is used to dial-up the BroadbandAccess and uses VZAccess manager. Once connected you can surf the net or conduct any other Internet related activities from your car, inside a grocery store or practically any other location the broadband service is available. Valerie was able to write a paper for school and email it just in time to her professor using this service. Not everyone requires this type of access but it's great to know it's available if you do!
Once again, check out the Verizon wireless site at www.verizonwireless.com
