Streaming Movies!

Momentum is gaining in the battle for space in the Home Theater/Entertainment Room of your home. While many people focus on where to buy and rent DVD’s, others are having movies delivered electronically to their home. For example, did you know there are multiple ways to have movies streamed to your television? Presently, you can stream movies from Netflix via PS3, Xbox, and more recently your Wii gaming console. You can also use another device called a Roku Digital Video Player with built-in Wi-Fi. There are also Internet Connected Blu-Ray Players, Digital Video Recorders, and Internet Connected HD Televisions!

What does this mean to you? It means that you will have the flexibility of watching movies from your Netflix (or possibly Blockbuster) account without having to go to a DVD store, or wait for a DVD to arrive in the mail. More time is needed before new releases of movies DVD’s are made available via any of these devices. However, there are hundreds of titles including TV series (Dexter, The “L” Word, etc.) and movies that are available now for instant viewing. All that is required is a Wireless Network in your home, a Netflix account, and one of the previously mentioned devices. The good news is you may already own one of the gaming consoles (PS3, Xbox, Wii), which puts you ahead of the game.

Future articles will explain how easy it is to setup this functionality in your home.
