About a week ago my daughter Candice let me know that she wanted an iPhone for her birthday (whatever happened to dolls, jump ropes, etc.; oh yeah she grew up). At first I was really excited since I thought I could give her my iPhone and then go and buy the new one for myself (smile). That thought went out the window when she said she wanted the 3G iPhone with the black casing. Oh well, a man can dream can't he?
So she will get the phone soon, but there are a few things she needs to consider:
1. The iPhone is not meant to be held to your face all of the time; the screen will smudge. It's better to use a hands free blue tooth headset to make calls.
2. There are protective glare screens for purchase that help minimize smudging.
3. The only way to share photos using the iPhone is via email; sending photos does not work like other phones.
4.There are thousands of iPhone applications available from the Apple App Store; she does not need all of them.
5. She will be able to purchase songs and apps using the 3G network AND WiFi. That feature is not available on the iPhones that use Edge technology (First Generation iPhones like mine, damn).
6. You never want to drop an iPhone. Never, ever!
So it will be interesting to move her contacts from her Blackberry Curve to her iPhone. Maybe I can even get her to use Outlook with her Gmail account.
Stay posted!
