I recently subscribe

I recently subscribed to Siruis Satellite Radio service and installed a Sportster portable device in my car (my wife Valerie already had it).  What do I think of Satellite Radio?  I love it!  There are some caveats though.

Installation and activation was easy.  I connected the device to my car via the cigarette lighter adapter and antenna included with the Sportster.  I found an empty FM frequency on my car radio and set the Sportster to that station.  Next, I contacted Sirius customer support and provided them the ID/ESN number from the SIRIUS receiver and a major credit card.   I made sure the SIRIUS tuner was installed with the antenna facing skyward, and the SIRIUS tuner on and tuned to channel 184.

After that it was music, music, and more music!  Other programming includes talk channels, Weather and Sports.

Caveats, the Sirius system will temporarily lose its signal if there are too many trees overhead blocking the sky.

Features: pause and rewind songs, set alerts for favorite songs and set a jump button that can switch from whatever station you are listening to back to you primary favorite station.  You can preprogram up to 30 favorite stations using the buttons on the front of the device.

I now face a challenge each day deciding if I will play my iPod or my satellite radio when I get in the car.  Right now the Sportster satellite radio is winning.
